Cars Broken Into At NARA Park

May 15, 2023

From the Acton Police Facebook page:

On 5/9/23 at 6:03 PM, Acton Police officers were dispatched to 10 Granite Road for an attempted motor vehicle break. Upon arrival and speaking with the witness, several other motor vehicles were found broken into at NARA Park. The suspect smashed out the side windows and took pocketbooks and other valuables. A witness to the crime captured several photos of the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene. The suspicious vehicle is a black Chevy Blazer with the rear registration plate concealed. The vehicle left before police arrival and was spotted by the Westford Police Department with Florida Registration Plates.

This crime is consistent with the activity of The Felony Lane Gang. The FLG is a nationwide criminal enterprise organized in Florida. With the spring now upon us, members of the FLG head north and target valuables left in plain sight in unattended cars, smashing the windows with a hammer to steal victims’ purses or wallets, cellphones, IDs, credit cards, checkbooks, and more. Then, they use the stolen personal information to commit fraud and identity theft. The crime happens quickly, often in broad daylight at gyms, daycare facilities, parks, and other areas where someone may usually leave personal belongings in their car for a brief time.

The Acton Police will be increasing enforcement in these areas. Please remember to remove all valuables from your vehicle when left unattended.

The suspect vehicle is pictured in the post. If you live in the area of NARA and have any video evidence of the vehicle and its occupants, don’t hesitate to contact the Acton Police Department at 978-929-7711.

Update from Detective Ed Lawton: The Chevy Blazer was observed by the Ludlow Vermont Police Department today [5/17]. They attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, and the operator failed to stop. The Ludlow Police pursued the Blazer, which ended in the vehicle crashing. The three occupants fled the scene and have not been captured. The Ludlow Police have recovered the vehicle. This incident remains under investigation.
