Hawthorne and Hutchings receive Joseph A. Lalli Merit Awards

The second evening of the Acton Town meeting on May 7, 2024 opened with recognition of the Joseph A. Lalli Merit awardees. Town manager John Mangiaratti, briefly described Joseph A. Lalli and the Steinberg-Lalli Charitable Foundation, and said that this award is given each year to a public safety employee and a municipal employee who go over and above in their service to the town.

Mr. Mangiaratti recognized Public Safety dispatcher Patrick “Pat” Hawthorne for his years of service, and related an example of his quick thinking in handling a 911 call. Municipal employee Beverly “Bev” Hutchings, senior services and social services coordinator with the Council on Aging, earlier worked with the Acton Nursing service. Mr. Mangiaratti noted her professionalism, patience, and compassion as she coordinates among departments and agencies to help people find the services they need.
