Children’s book illustration exhibit opens at Acton Memorial Library

September 14, 2024

A new exhibit, featuring the work of four local picture book illustrators has opened in the Meeting Room of the Acton Memorial Library. The work, by Priscilla Alpaugh, Chris Beatrice, Sarah Brannen and Ioana Hobai, will be on view throughout September and October.

According to the exhibition description on the library website: “The work featured in this exhibition is from published and soon-to-be-published books. Viewers will gain some understanding of how these artists make their art. Two of the artists use exclusively traditional media, one exclusively digital media and one a combination of the two. Brief statements accompanying each illustration explain what the artist’s process entails, providing a glimpse into what goes into creating each book and a description of the many steps along the way from completed manuscript to published book.”

In addition to the framed art works, visitors can see the illustrations in context, in copies of the picture books that are also on display with the exhibit.
