Jan.14, Acton-Boxborough High School gym: An explosive third quarter for the Colonials offense, combined with a tenacious defense, stretched a 36-32 halftime lead to 65-35 after three quarters, as the AB boys downed their Dual-County League rival Wayland Warriors, 74-51. Desmond Flumo’s many steals resulted in uncontested layups, contributing to a 15-point total for the Junior guard. Brayden Flannery and Jake Moorman each tickled the twine for 10 points, with ten players in all scoring for the home team.
In comments after the game, Coach Mike Morris attributed his teams’ third-quarter domination to much better rebounding than in the first half. On Jan. 16, the now 5-5 Colonials lost to Merrimac Valley power Tewksbury, 60-51, and on Jan. 24 hosted Weston. Wayland’s record dropped to 3-7.
