A-B girls hoop: Bench scoring key to win over Waltham

January 10, 2025

Dec. 20, Acton-Boxborough High School gym: Perhaps buoyed by a vocal contingent of fans who cheered every basket and groaned at every miss, the A-B girls basketball team extended a 23-12 halftime lead to finish with a 45-28 win over the visiting Waltham Hawks. Senior guard Olivia Baytarian led all scorers with 15 points, but the bench also loomed large, with two freshman, Josie Abakah and Ashley Harrington, respectively pouring in 11 and 9 points. Freshman Maura Quirk did her usual fine job of swiping rebounds and blocking several shots.

The Revs, who improved to 2-1 overall, will host Everett on Dec. 28, and travel to Chelmsford on the 30th. Waltham, now 0-1, hosted Holliston on Dec. 23.
