AB girls rally late, but fall to Fontbonne Academy, 63-52

January 25, 2025

Jan. 17, Acton Boxborough High School gym: Trailing by more than 20 points in the first half, the AB Colonials cut the deficit to ten points in the fourth quarter, prompting Fontbonne Coach Maura Spignesi to call a time out. But in the end, the local squad couldn’t find an answer to the pin-point passing and three-point shooting of the Fontbonne Ducks, and lost, 63-52, to their non-league opponent. Leading the Colonials in scoring were Freshman Ashley Harrington with 14 points and Senior Olivia Baytarian with 12.

Acton-Boxborough, now 4-6, lost to Burlington, 50-41, on Jan. 19, and played league rivals Newton North on Jan. 22, and Weston on Jan. 24. Fontbonne improved to 5-2.
