ABRHS senior organizes “Senior Prom” at Acton Senior Center

April 19, 2025

Sarah Willard, a senior at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, organized an innovative cross-generation event recently for her year long senior project. She invited older Acton residents to attend a “Senior Prom” at the Acton Senior Center.

The theme for the event, which was held April 8, 2025, was “Swing into Spring” and approximately 50 seniors attended. They enjoyed music provided by the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School jazz quartet, along with dancing and light refreshments. Every attendee received a boutonniere or corsage created by d’Vine Floral Design. This special event was made possible thanks to a grant from Danny’s Place.

Many people hold fond memories of their senior prom, viewing it as a significant and memorable milestone before graduation and the start of adulthood, often associated with fun, friendship, and potentially romance. So, going to another “Senior Prom” almost two generations later generated deeply nostalgic responses.

At the end of the evening, Willard and ABRHS Sophomore Matthew Liu personally surveyed attendees for their feedback and suggestions.
