Frolic and Detour Closes
Eva Zelnick, owner of the Nagog Park restaurant, Frolic and Detour, confirms that it has closed permanently. Zelnick is a lawyer and has returned to that field. McGovern Automotive Group recently bought the property as well as the rest of Nagog Mall. Chrysler cars and trucks now populate the restaurant parking lot. The building has housed several restaurants including the original one, Rusty Scupper, followed by Scupper Jacks and The Red Raven.
For those of you who are wondering what the restaurant name Frolic and Detour means, Eve offers this explanation: “A frolic and detour is when you’re on the clock but you’re engaged in personal business. So, say you’re a delivery driver and you stop at a bar while you are on route. That stop is a frolic and detour.” If something goes wrong, the identification of the stop as “frolic and detour” will limit employer liability.
