Acton resident Elizabeth Bejar-Benz was recently honored for her significant contributions to education and the arts at the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus (MBLLC) Latino Excellence Awards. The ceremony, held in the Great Hall of the Massachusetts State House on October 25th, recognized Latino leaders who have made a positive impact in their communities.
Bejar-Benz, originally from Peru, was nominated for the award by Representative Simon Cataldo of the 14th Middlesex District. Her recognition highlights her efforts to create inclusive and culturally responsive learning environments. Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Art Education at MassArt, Bejar-Benz is an advocate for the transformative power of the arts.
Bejar-Benz’s dedication to her community extends beyond the classroom. She is an active member of the “AB Tradiciones Unidas Dance Group” community, where she advocates for sharing cultural heritage through dance. Additionally, she serves as a home visitor for the ParentChild+ Program with First Connections, supporting families with young children.
The MBLLC Latino Excellence Awards celebrates the achievements of outstanding Latino leaders across the state.
