Girls’ volleyball coach Darren Gwin shared thoughts with the Acton Exchange on the upcoming season. He said that the A-B Revolution competes in the very competitive Dual County League (DCL). They return eight players, including returning starters Chloe Heitman, Sanskriti Nistala, and Heloisa Bitencourt. Chloe Heitman and Chloe Kim are this year’s captains. Chloe Heitman is a returning DCL All-League Player and All-State player. She is currently 3rd all time in A-B history in kills and points. She has 656 career kills and 806 career points (kills plus aces plus blocks).

Gwin said that key newcomers are 9th graders Mia Moorman and Maria Paes, and junior Laura Putt. He is also looking for Carolyn Wang, Sarah Willard, and Courtney Arnett to step up into bigger roles.

The team plays a tough schedule because the DCL is so strong and the Revolution also plays tough non-league games against Shrewsbury and Algonquin.

Gwin said, “The A-B volleyball team won’t be the tallest, but they are embracing a ‘short but mighty’ attitude. They are looking to serve tough and play relentless defense.”

For their first match, A-B will host Chelmsford on September 5th at 5:15.

James Conboy played in the Acton Adult Softball League for seventeen years, and now plays in the EMASS Senior Softball League.
