When Rebecca Minor, founder and owner of Prism Therapy Collective, began her company last year, she and her clinicians offered their services virtually. A few weeks ago, Rebecca opened Prism’s first in-person office at Kelley’s Corner. The building is at 268 Main St., at the corner of routes 111 and 27, close to many of Acton’s schools. This building along with the condominium complex to the immediate north were the most affected by the ongoing construction of Kelly’s Corner. Thankfully, the work around Prism is nearly done, allowing clients easy access to the new location.

Rebecca began her practice in 2017 as a single therapist in an office in the center of Concord. Covid arrived and she went virtual. After expanding and forming Prism Therapy Collective, she felt it was time to see some of their clients in person. With six clinicians, there will be a mix of in-person and virtual sessions as some of the therapists reside out of state. In addition to meeting the needs of clients in Massachusetts, Prism can help clients from New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. One of the group’s in-person clinicians is an expressive arts therapist.
Rebecca grew up in Concord and is a third-generation social worker. She tried musical theatre but when that didn’t pan out, she knew she would continue in the family tradition. After completing undergraduate studies, she worked at McLean Hospital in Belmont. She continued her education as a research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work at Boston University’s School of Social Work (BUSSW), where she continues as a part-time faculty member. As a therapist at Prism “she offers a range of specialized services, from individual therapy to parent/caregiver coaching and group therapy.”

Ms. Minor married her high school sweetheart, Travis. When they lived in Pennsylvania, he was a teacher while Rebecca was in training. When they moved back to this area in 2012, he founded Open Door Education in Acton center, 492 Main St, next to Acton Pizza. Travis offers test preparation, tutoring, and other educational services. At the new Prism office there will be some sharing of space between the two companies. Quoting from their recent press release: “[their] collaboration seeks to provide academic coaching and life skills development with mental health support and diagnostics, recognizing the intrinsic link between emotional well-being and success in education.” Their building has been extensively remodeled and includes private offices as well as larger spaces that can accommodate small group classes.
