Standing room only for Madrigals at Acton Memorial Library

December 13, 2024

On Sunday afternoon December 8, about 60 people came to Acton Memorial Library to hear carols and songs by the Acton Boxborough Regional High School Madrigal singers. The Madrigals, dressed in Renaissance-era garb, sang a variety of songs for the season, including some carols (traditional and less traditional), winter songs (In the Bleak Midwinter and Sevivon, Sov, Sov, Sov), and two traditional madrigals (Hark, All ye Lovely Saints and Come Again). Everyone joined in singing Deck the Halls and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and a fine time was had by all.

Your next opportunities to hear the Madrigals are at the ABRHS Winter Concert on Dec. 17 (ABRHS Auditorium, 7 p.m.) or at Sargent Library in Boxborough on Dec. 19 (427 Mass Ave, Boxborough, 6 p.m.).

Miriam Lezak is an associate editor of the Acton Exchange as well as an Acton Memorial Library trustee. She coordinates with the AB choral director to bring the Madrigals to the library every year.
