November 6, Acton-Boxborough Regional High School gym: It took five sets, but the A-B Revolution girls’ volleyball team (or Colonials, if you read the scoreboard) outlasted the Boston Latin Wolfpack in a match that showcased Coach Darren Gwin’s squad’s outstanding athletic skills. Whether setting up for the spikers, digging for a ball, or blocking a hard spike, the girls rose to every challenge.

But the Wolfpack did not go quietly, winning sets two and four, setting up the tie-breaker, in which A-B prevailed, 15-12, to secure the win.

Keys to the victory, according to Gwin, were the girls’ emphasis on having fun together, believing in themselves, and concentrating on scoring one point at a time. The team continued their streak on November 8th, winning at Lincoln-Sudbury, 3-1. Their next opponent will be Brookline in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) state semi-final.
